Are you struggling to get your thesis written? Come along to Thesis Boot Camp to boost your motivation and your word count.

Thesis Boot Camp is a three-day event designed to provide a supportive environment in which you can kickstart your writing. Facilitated by Dr Catherine Pope and Dr Liz Sage, the weekend includes motivational talks, workshops, and 1-2-1 tutorials. Of course, there’s plenty of time for intensive writing, too. Oh, and we provide lots of food and coffee. We’ll help you focus on your goals, get some words down on paper (or screen), and avoid procrastination.

Last year, one attendee wrote 20,000 words (yes, really), with others not far behind. This is a great opportunity to build some momentum and move closer to submission.

Here’s some of the feedback from 2015:

“It completely transformed the way I think about the writing process, and has transformed the way I think about my thesis. I now have absolute faith I can finish it, whereas before I seriously doubted that I could ever get it done!”

“The weekend far surpassed my expectations and is the most positive and helpful workshop/training I’ve attended over my PhD – can’t recommend it highly enough, thanks!”

“I managed to get the best part of a chapter written and have found myself much more motivated to tackle my writing-up. I have come away with a sense that it is achievable, and that I am capable of submitting a good thesis.”

You’d be expected to attend all the sessions and do some work in advance. This event is open only to doctoral researchers at Sussex and you need to have a specific chapter on which you’ll work.
